What can I say about Bhavna that her artistry doesn't say for her? She is professional, talented, punctual and the best in the business. I hired her for my bridal shower as well as my wedding henna. She made these wonderful party favors that everyone loved - small floating henna candles that smell wonderful and were delicately designed. Everyone was floored by the henna on my hands and feet on my wedding day. Usually my color comes out orangish, but Bhavna's henna came out deep red on my hands. She spends time trying new types of henna design on herself in her incredibly limited free time -just knowing that you can can see that she has a real passion. She has researched the material in henna and created her own formulation (all organic!) which I really appreciated.

During the process, Bhavna sat down with myself and my grandmother, mother and fiance to talk through what would be put on my arms and legs on one of the most important days of our lives. Walking in I knew I wanted figures on my arms (incredibly difficult), bride/groom, peacocks, and elephants! Bhavna did not shy away from all of the elements and proposed how to make the figurines stand out and meld with each bit. She even asked questions about our history and professions to truly make the henna unique.

"I don't even know where to begin! Bhavna came highly recommended! And by highly, I mean she is THE person that every other vendor directed me to first. She was willing to take on my wedding, despite having one directly before mine (it exhausts me just thinking about it!!). She came SO PREPARED,
made sure I was 100% comfortable every step of the way (somehow I managed to sit still for 7 hours, and I think she can be directly credited for that). Her designs are beautiful, unique, and she really feels them out, rather and sticking to a pre-determined pattern. My guests were delighted at her work, as well! Bhavna is not only an amazing mehendi artist but an awesome friend who keeps you entertained for the 7 hours of your bridal mehendi sitting. She's an absolute delight and a total genius when it comes to designs and is willing to work with you on both traditoinal and custom designs. Definitely take advantage of the pre-event consultation to sketch out your designs before hand for minimal suprises on the day of. She also puts a ton of effort into her mehendi mix and henna balm which leave your mehendi protected and your skin soft for days after. I'm so glad we were able to work with her - she won over my entire family and will definitely be reaching out for future events.

Bhavna was beyond wonderful and I can honestly say that her services set the mood for the entire weekend of celebrations for my family. Firstly, she was so accommodating when I first contacted her to do my Bridal Henna - I did it so late! I wasn't 100% sure that I wanted Henna done for my Indian-American fusion wedding but I'm so glad I went for it! She squeezed me in for a 4 hour session even though she had another event that same day. She worked so diligently even though she was exhausted and the final product was breathtaking! She added personal touches (symbols representing our professions and the Grooms name!) and really made me feel special. Everyone was in awe about my henna. Then she returned a few days later to do henna on the wedding party. She was such a hit, all of my Aunties wanted to join in on the fun (even some Uncles!)! That night was such a special night for my family and set the mood for the entire weekend. People were in love with their henna designs, especially since she created each one specifically unique for everyone. And she's so sweet during all of the craziness also!! First, Bhavna is absolutely the best henna artist in the DC area. She has an exquisite eye for design and unmatched drawing skills. She is truly passionate about her work – from the henna she uses to the little ghee balms she sends home with her clients, there is so much attention to detail. I knew when my fiancé and I decided to plan the traditional Indian wedding of her dreams that I was signing up for a crash course on Hindu wedding rituals. I spent the majority of the lead up to the wedding playing catchup to a culture that was completely foreign to me. To say I was apprehensive about designing my mehendi is definitely an understatement. Up until my first meeting with Bhavna, everything I knew about henna was gleaned from Bollywood movies where these gorgeous, intricate designs appear magically on the hands of brides around their wedding. During that first meeting Bhavna very patiently and knowledgeably explained the many styles of henna and the meaning behind dozens of different intricate elements. She skillfully directed the conversation, paying close attention to our individual styles. Despite my complete lack of knowledge and poor direction, the resulting design was elaborate, beautiful and genuinely reflected my personality and relationship with my fiancé. I have trouble sitting still for 5 minutes so the idea of not moving for hours was pretty terrifying. However, Bhavna made the henna experience so much fun that I was a little sad when she was finished. Bhavna is a gifted conversationalist who really tries to connect with each of her clients. I wish more vendors were like Bhavna, extremely skilled and passionate about her craft AND at a reasonable price!

"One of my best wedding "purchases"

Bhavna was amazing. She did my mehndi for my wedding on 3/21 and I couldn't have been happier with the results. While it may seem like quite a time and cost commitment it is totally worth it for the following reasons:
1. You are forced to sit still and remain calm for a few hours (7 in my case a few days before your wedding). I was incredibly nervous about that idea in the days leading up to it because I knew I still had so much to do, but I'm so glad I did. Bhavna provided great company while working hard on me and it was nice to just sit and not run around like I had been for the weeks and months prior. Also, it really made it feel like I was about to get married, it got me in the right mindset.
2. I had so much fun showing off her work at my wedding and getting people to look for my husbands name.
3. After all that build up of a wedding, it's weird when it's all over. At least if you have your bridal henna done it still feels like a gradual transition into normal life since it takes some time to fully fade. Not to mention, people will notice and will congratulate you on your wedding!
Added bonus: If you spend some time in the sun while the henna is still dark you end up with tan lines. It's been nearly a month since my wedding and I can still see the design from my tan which I think is pretty fun!

Those are the reasons you should get it done, but the reason you should go with Bhavna is because of the amount of effort and skill she brings to the table. From the consultation I was impressed with how much detail and thought goes into it beforehand and how much she does to make it personal. The design fit my style/personality so well and that's only because she pulled details out of me. I did not come into the appointment with any ideas of what I wanted, she was able to come up with that with her pointed questions and guidance.

In summary, if you plan on getting bridal mehndi done (or really any type of mehndi done), go with Bhavna, you won't regret it."

She was very patient with me and drew exactly what I was thinking. When I came for my henna Appointment at her house, she took really good care of me as a guest at her house not just her client. Bhavna did a great job with my wedding mehndi. She and I looked at dozens of designs and settled on a custom one just for me that she created to match my personality and garden wedding theme. She also did henna for about twenty guests at my pre-wedding Mehndi party - each had a completely unique design and she cranked all 20 out within two hours. Everyone loved how their design was meant to match their aura - it was a great addition to the wedding! Highly recommend her for a completely special and unique addition to your wedding celebrations.

I have no words to properly convey what an amazing job Bhavna did for my wedding mehendi. Not only is she an amazingly talented artist (which should be evident from any photos of her work), she is very knowledgeable about the art of henna, the different styles and patterns, and was able to take into consideration what kinds of things I liked, and the shape of my hands and feet, and come up with a beautiful design that made my chubby fingers look long and beautiful! She also tries to make her designs very unique to each of her clients. I'm a malayalee girl who married a telugu guy, and she wrote his name in telugu on one hand and my name in malayalam on the other (SO CREATIVE!) More important than all of this though, Bhavna is a wonderful person who truly connects with her clients. While working on my mehendi, I felt so comfortable opening up to her about even the most personal topics. Her suggestion to incorporate my late mother's name into my mehendi moved me to tears. Between doing my intricate mehendi and mehendi for about 30-40 women in my family who came in the evening, She spent over 12 hours working non-stop! She left my house at about 1:30am, but not before wrapping my arms and feet in toilet paper, and tucking me in bed since I couldn't do that myself, as everyone else had either gone to bed or had mehendi on their hands! Seriously, ladies, you will never find another mehendi artist like Bhavna. She deserves every accolade for her talent and for her amazing heart.
